The History of Christmas on the Terrace in Geraldton

The History of Christmas on the Terrace in Geraldton

A long time ago in...

...we opened Latitude Jewellers in Marine Terrace in 2010, back then the west end just wasn’t as vibrant as it is today.

Finity Clothing was already there but not a lot of other retail stores and there definitely wasn’t as many coffee shops. I think  Karl Monaghan Photography and Framing was there (sinced moved to opposite old railway station). I remember when Cavania opened we were so excited! So great to have another nice store. The owner (Christian) approached us to see if we were interested in opening for late night trade in June/July for a ladies shopping night out... we thought it was a nice idea and it turned out to be a very successful night for many reasons.

There's something about meeting people and letting people know a bit about your business over a glass of champagne and light refreshments that's so enjoyable for everyone. Most of the shops opened that evening at our end of Marine Terrace and it all worked so well. Later that year the shop owners thought it would be a great opportunity to do it again pre Christmas…

When the rest of Marine Terrace came on board, wow, it gave the event such a cool vibe. It was run independently for the first few years, then the City of Geraldton took over the event. As so many people were attending they too could see the opportunities and how to take it to the next level.

We were so grateful the City of Geraldton took over this event as it demanded a lot of our time. I even remember having to hire the snow machine, checking public liability, organising traffic signs etc etc.

I truly believe Christmas on the Terrace is one of the best events Geraldton offers. So many family’s come down, I love the stall holders that attend, the live events and entertainment.

What I love the most is catching up with so many people and just taking the time to have a little chitty chat and wish everyone a very merry Christmas.

This Christmas on the Terrace it's going to be so much fun. Latitude Jewellers will have Santa in the showroom at 169 Marine Terrace. Bring the kids down and have a photo taken together. Enjoy some light refreshments. We will have spot prizes and giveaways. With your chance to WIN a beautiful Abrolhos Island Mabe Pearl Pendant, just come by and enter the 'guess the pearls in the jar competition'.

If you're in Geraldton in December this is an event not to miss. All of the shops will be open in Marine Terrace plus so much more.

See you there. Thursday 8th December 2022 from 5pm to 8.30pm.
