The Story Behind our Seashell Collection

I’ll never forget the day we were doing a photoshoot along the seashore at the Abrolhos Islands, Western Australia, capturing the beauty of the ocean and the elegance of our jewellery. As I walked along the beach, my eyes were drawn to something tiny and delicate, almost hidden in the sand. There they were, these little treasures, micro-shells no more than 5mm in length, shimmering under the sun. I was captivated. I stopped everything; the cameraman, the photographer, everyone, we all started walking the shore, collecting these precious little shells. By the end of the day, we had gathered about 30 of them that were perfect, and I knew we had found something special.

I brought those shells back to Geraldton, and the inspiration kept flowing. We made moulds of these tiny shells, capturing their delicate, intricate details in precious metal. There was such a fulfilment in this process, from the simplicity of walking along the beach to creating something beautiful, tangible, and lasting. To me, these tiny shells symbolised a return to nature, a way to hold onto that feeling of being by the sea, with the wind in your hair and the sun warming your skin.

There is something magical about the ocean. It’s a place where we all find solace, a place where we reconnect with ourselves and with the world around us. Most of us know that simple joy of walking barefoot along the beach, feeling the cool water lapping at our toes, finding a shell that’s been perfectly smoothed by the waves. It’s a small, quiet moment of joy, but it can change your day. And that’s what I wanted to capture with the Seashell Collection.

This collection is about bringing that memory, that feeling, into your daily life. The little shells that inspired me that day are not always accessible to everyone, sometimes they’re hidden treasures waiting to be discovered. But through these pieces, I wanted to make those moments accessible to all. I wanted to bring a bit of that beachside peace, that ocean calm, into our everyday lives.
