Latitude Young Jewellers Awards Night
Recently we opened the Latitude Young Jewellers Awards 2022 at Latitude Jewellers... what a wonderful night at our showroom. I’m not sure what it was but there were just so many smiles all round.
The night was opened by the Geraldton Mayor.
There was a real buzz happening it actually felt a bit christmassy!
For this exhibition - Latitude Jewellers donate pearls from our pearl farm located at the Abrolhos Islands to three Geraldton schools: Leaning Tree Steiner School, Nagle Catholic College and Geraldton Senior High School. Each school has their own jewellers workshop. The students choose one of our donated pearls and make a piece of jewellery that includes it. We provide a theme to inspire the students and they plan their design, drawing it and deciding what materials to use. They then write a description about their inspiration behind their design. For example here is Keeley Disher's card.
When we announced the award winners it was nice to see other students congratulate them and of course proud parents. One parent had to accept an award on behalf of their daughter and she was was just so overwhelmed and full of emotion, I could see her eyes well up with tears of happiness.
So when people ask why we continue to do these events, THIS IS WHY, bringing people together is personally something I really love to do. Making a point that the journey is just as important as the final result, sometimes even more important!

If you are in Geraldton please come and see the exhibition in our showroom. There is a PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD still to be given, so you can have a vote... the winner will be announced on the 30th September 2022.
Here are some more happy photos of the students…
Hope you enjoy the little update.
